Brian DoigProject Manager

Brian is a seasoned IT professional with over thirty years of experience. He graduated from Lakehead University with a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology and a Degree in Electrical Engineering.   His role at Northern Computers + Communications is that of Technology Consultant, Project Manager and Director of Client Services. He regularly meets with new and existing clients, recommending and procuring the most current and cost-effective solutions for their IT needs.

Katherine DoigOffice Manager + Purchasing

As the Office Manager and Purchaser, Katherine puts her love of shopping to use to find great deals on professional, quality products. She gained her experience in different customer service roles since 1989, and worked AP at the mill in Terrace Bay before settling in to the “Family Business” at NCC.

Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Kat moved to Schreiber in 2008, where she and Brian are raising their son - and quickly discovered she has always been a small-town girl at heart.  She is proud to give back to her community as a Fire Dispatch / Telecommunicator at the Schreiber Fire Department, and enjoys the peace and beauty of our rugged North Shore.

Cheryl RobertsCFO

Cheryl is located in Thunder Bay.  She was educated at Lakehead University and has an Honours Bachelor's of Commerce.  In 2016 she attained her CPA, CGA designation.  Cheryl has worked in small businesses in Thunder Bay since 1996 and is well aware of the challenges a small to mid-sized organization faces when it comes to Network and Cyber security needs.  She is well versed in procedure and protocols, best practices and audits.  Should your organization need help developing a procedure manual or need training in specific software Cheryl is available to help.

Robin MerkleySenior IT Technician

After graduating from Confederation College & started as a Junior Technician at a company called CompuStock mainly as a hardware technician.  Fast forward 28 years of computer hardware repair up to setting up, maintaining and managing networks; still doing some hardware here and there though.

I survived the age of Floppy diskettes, serial ports, dial up modems with no Internet.  Today I am living at Gigabit speeds across Fiber Optics & playing Mechwarrior Online.

Paul McGrathSenior IT Technician

Born in Rossport, Ontario; Paul started learning about computers back in the early 90s when his dad brought home his first MS-Dos computer system. Advancing his skills with a Co-Op position at his local computer store during high school and later continuing his education with an Apprentice Position. Paul Has been working with Computers for over 20 years, with a broad understand in Windows Desktop/Server Environment, Linux Platform, Mac OS, Apple iOS, and Google Android.

Brad GrahamSenior IT Technician

Brad received his first computer (Commodore PET) in 1979, and promptly took the cover off to begin a journey into electronics that has lasted 40 years! Brad is also the author of six technical books for McGraw-Hill dealing with robotics, electronics, mechanical design and security. He also has 30 years of experience as a computer network company owner, and programmer of embedded systems in many low level languages.

Forrest NotwellSenior IT Technician

Forrest is one of our Senior IT Technicians. Former dentist Forrest started volunteering with Northern Computers + Communications and moved into a part-time role assisting in-shop. Forrest's expertise aids in many IT applications from troubleshooting to deep hardware dives. 

Kyle MassierIT Technician

Born in Chapleau, but raised in Timmins, Kyle moved to Terrace Bay, ON for family in 2010. Falling in love with the view of Lake Superior, he stayed and began his career as an IT Technician for Northern Computers + Communications. With a lifetime of interest in telecommunications paired with 5 years of IT work experience under his belt, Kyle continues to further his knowledge with technology through the training programs provided by Millenium Micro Partnership. His main duties includes preventative maintenance for the McCausland Hospital and Wilson Memorial General Hospital; managing, maintaining and expanding both hospitals physical network infrastructure; and support of the telecommunications infrastructure within the hospitals.

Hunter CoughlinIT Technician

Born in Thunder Bay, Hunter developed a curious passion for technology early on in life and spent most of his childhood learning about it. Fresh out of high school, he began studying computer programming at Confederation College, funded through an IT job at the Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout; acting as his first foray into the field, and piqued a particular interest in health IT. Through his experience doing high school co-op courses at NCC growing up, he was made aware of a new opportunity as an NCC technician, primarily focused on servicing the McCausland Hospital and its network infrastructure. Eager to pursue independence and continue working in a familiar field, Hunter began his career at NCC in 2022. Nearing 6+ years of experience working in and studying technology, Hunter plans to continue building his knowledge and expertise in the field through experience and education.

Dakota SacchettiIT Technician

A programmer by trade, Dakota joined Northern Computers in 2021 and has operated as the local technician for clients in Nipigon and the surrounding area as well as assisting as a junior technician for clients in other locales. Outside of work, Dakota enjoys retro computing, tabletop and miniatures games, and cooking.

 

Carlo GuizzoIT Technician

Born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, Carlo pursued his passion for technology by taking both Computer Technician courses as well as Network Administration courses. Carlo relocated to Marathon, Ontario for family in 2020. He quickly fell in love with the North Shore taking every opportunity to explore the area. Carlo began his career in IT as a Junior Technician for Northern Computers + Communications. Based out of Wilson Memorial General Hospital Carlo supports the staff with technical issues while also assisting with upgrading and the rolling out of new equipment. Blending his knowledge, expertise, and love for technology has created a rewarding and fulfilling experience. Outside of the office, you'll find Carlo indulging in his hobbies: tinkering with computers, diving into video games, playing with his two dogs, and casting lines while fishing.

Bree-Lyn MulliganDigital Media Coordinator

Bree-Lyn is a true Northerner, born and raised in Schreiber, ON. She has went on to complete the Principals of Accounting Certificate with IESE Business School and Googles IT Support Certificate. Bree has over 6 years of Customer Service experience; over a year in accounting and she is new to the IT Industry. Her roll at Northern Computers + Communications varies on a day to day basis depending on business needs. She could be managing our website & social media pages; assisting clients with their needs; Coordinating different teams and professionals; or even assisting in troubleshooting!

 

 

Siobhan MalashewskiAdministration

Siobhan returned to Terrace Bay in 2021. She joined our team to take care of Purolator and assist with Administrative duties. She's our first line of defense at the desk and here to help with your needs.

Stacy Moffat

Stacy is a true Northerner, born and raised in Manitouwadge, ON. She went on to complete Cambrian College's 3 year Graphic Design Program in Sudbury and immediately returned to the North Shore, setting roots and making Terrace Bay her home. As a shareholder and secretary of the business, she holds a role in its governance and administration. While not being directly involved in day-to-day operations, her responsibilities lie in assisting in maintaining official records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and representing shareholder interests in board meetings.
